Grand Rapids Magazine has named the winner of its Restaurant of the Year award — and the best restaurants of their kind.
Grove in Grand Rapids’ East Hills neighborhood is honored as the Restaurant of the Year for the third consecutive year in the February edition of Grand Rapids Magazine, a sister publication of the Business Journal.
Grove Executive Chef Patrick Wise said a “tiny” kitchen helps bring the team together to create a special experience.
“Everyone is part of a team,” Wise said. “We work together on everything. There’s no hierarchy in this kitchen. It’s the challenge of creating something new and special that makes everyone want to come to work.”
A couple reasons Grove was selected as the top restaurant again by Grand Rapids Magazine are its small-plate concept and locally sourced ingredients.
Grove offers three dishes for $38, allowing customers to sample a variety of offerings.
Food is brought to the table by staff that “makes us feel welcome in the casual, yet elegant, setting,” the magazine writes.
The menu is ever changing, with care given to every aspect of the food experience, which is what Grand Rapids Magazine says helps set Groveapart from other Grand Rapids restaurants.
“Grove takes the top honors for its forward-thinking, locally sourced and always-delicious cuisine.”
The magazine staff spent a “day in the life” at the restaurant and came away with a new view of the eatery.
“Each day is a culinary adventure at Grove, and we wanted to see how it all happens. After spending an afternoon behind the scenes, we have an even greater appreciation for this Grand Rapids gem.”
Information about all the winners and honorable mentions for other dining experiences is available in February’s issue.
